Bellydance name: Rayya Nudara
What does it mean? Both names are Arabic in origin. “Rayya” means ‘no longer thirsty’. I chose it
because it made me think of sunshine. “Nudara” means ‘gold’
What is your favorite thing about belly dancing? I have always had a love for dance, but belly dance
took that love to another level. What really grabs me is the combination of grace and fluidity combined
with sharp, definitive movements. Women have a tendency to over amplify their physical imperfections
and we frequently feel insecure with our bodies. Through belly dance we are able to let go of those
insecurities and feel not only beautiful, but also powerful.
What else should people know about you? I am not a morning person so avoid my company at all
costs before 10am and we’ll get along just fine!
