Bellydance name: Sapphire Phoenix
What does it mean? Sapphire was my beloved childhood chow chow that was always there for me
when I was going through a rough time. Phoenix is an ancient bird that rises from its own ashes and
begins a new life. With Bellydance I was able to put my past behind me and start my new life over on
several occasions.
What is your favorite thing about belly dancing? I can be a plus size woman and still be free to
shimmy and shake and its still beautiful. I am not a “traditional” belly dancer and love to mix hip hop,
ballet, jazz, and what ever else I can come up with into my dancing.
What else should people know about you? I have an amazing tiny belly dancer Jack and wonderful
supportive husband.
